Small Wire Sculpture

Many of the life drawing classes that I have attended have started with quick drawing exercises, to focus the eye and loosen the hand. This idea is the starting point for these characters. They are made from 1.6mm single core wire in a similar way to continuous line drawing. Using a pair of pliers, I manipulate the shape trying not to get too carried away by detail, allowing the wire and the loose idea in my mind to dictate the final outcome. The immediacy and freedom that they exude is a great starting point for my larger sculptures.
 

Fore!
