Small Wire Sculpture

Many of the life drawing classes that I have attended have started with quick drawing exercises, to focus the eye and loosen the hand. This idea is the starting point for these characters. They are made from single core wire in a similar way to continuous line drawing. Using a pair of pliers, I manipulate the shape trying not to get too carried away by detail, allowing the wire and the loose idea in my mind to dictate the final outcome. The immediacy and freedom that they exude is a great starting point for my larger sculptures.

Wheee!

This character is 6.25 inches tall and is mounted on a 2.75 x 1.75 inch white wooden base that is signed and dated on the front.

Piggy Back

Piggy Back is mounted on a 5.5 inch x 1.5 inch black pine base, signed and dated on the top.

Fore!

Little chap playing golf. 'Fore' is 8.5 inches tall and is mounted on a 3.25 x 2 inch black wooden base that is signed and dated on the top. The golf ball is a made from a drawing pin. Sold

Serenade

Serenade is 5.5 inches tall and he is a romantic little soul. Sold

Leapfrog

Leapfrog is 10.5 inches tall and is mounted on a 2 inch square black pine base that is signed and dated on the top. Sold

Dirty Dancing is 12.5 inches tall and is mounted on a 1.5 inch black pine base that is signed and dated on the top. Sold

This character is caught in the middle of performing a cart wheel and is 10 inches tall. Mounted on a 3.25 x 1.75 inch black wooden base. Sold

Fisherman Bob

Fisherman Bob is 6.25 inches tall and is holding a 7 inch long rod with a small copper fish on the end. Sold
